Dr. Sarah Vollers
Dr. Sarah Vollers is a proud Penn State alumnus, where she graduated with a BS in Animal Sciences. She then moved to Indiana where she received her veterinary degree from Purdue University. While at Purdue, she also pursued her interest in business by participating in a certified Veterinary Practice Management Program. After graduation, Dr. Vollers moved back to Pennsylvania and started working at a general practice plus emergency hospital.
Dr. Vollers has been working at White Haven Veterinary Hospital since 2020. She enjoys working with clients to keep their pets healthy but also trying to solve the mysterious sick cases. She loves the upbeat speed of emergency medicine and thinking on her feet. Education and communication are key things she likes to focus on in the exam room.
Dr. Vollers resides on the outskirts of White Haven with her husband, 4 dogs, 6 cats and 2 horses. In her time off, Dr. Vollers likes training horses, snowmobiling, and spending time with friends!
Dr. Shelley Gallagher
Dr. Shelley Gallagher is originally from Indiana, Pennsylvania. She received her undergraduate degree in Biology/Pre-Vet from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2006.
In 2010, Dr. Gallagher obtained her veterinary degree from the University of Pennsylvania. She practiced in Hazleton, Pa for five years prior to joining the White Haven Veterinary Hospital in 2015.
Dr. Gallagher has special interests in ophthalmology, dentistry and internal medicine. She enjoys building strong relationships with her clients and their pets based on communication and education.
In her spare time, she enjoys running, reading and spending time with her husband, John, their two children, Hannah and Chase, and a very patient dog named Max.
Dr. Mykela Strait
Dr. Mykela Strait grew up in White Haven where she developed her love for nature, animals, and the outdoors.
She received her undergraduate degree in Biology/Pre-Vet from Kings College in 2017. She continued her schooling and earned her doctorate in veterinary medicine from Ross University where she lived in the Caribbean islands for three years. From there, she moved to Oklahoma to complete her clinical years at Oklahoma State.
Dr. Strait practiced in Wilkes-Barre, PA for two years prior to joining the White Haven Veterinary Hospital in 2023.
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Aaron, and their three dogs, Julep, Bug, and Ellie.
Dr. Jolene Rettig
Dr. Jolene Rettig grew up in Swoyersville, PA. She had a curiosity for all species of animals her entire life. This curiosity led to wanting to help animals have the best quality of life through Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Rettig received her Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from St. George’s University. She completed her clinical year at the University of Florida in 2013.
Dr. Rettig has practiced general, emergency, and exotic animal medicine. She started working at White Haven Veterinary Hospital in 2018 as a relief veterinarian and has since continued her journey with us.
In her spare time, Dr. Rettig enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, learning and caring for exotic animals and wildlife. She has a 13 year old, mixed breed dog named Lilly Ann.
Dr. Jessica McAleer
Dr. Jessica McAleer is originally from New York City. She attended The University of Scranton where she got her Bachelors in Biology and Minor in Criminal Justice. She is a proud graduate of The Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University.
Dr. McAleer focuses on client education and fully believes the best plan for your pet is the one who come up with together as a team. She is a Fear Free Certified Veterinarian focusing on her patient’s comfort and avoiding fear, anxiety, and stress during her patient’s exam, treatment, and any procedures they need. Dr. McAleer has special interests in urgent care, surgery, and internal medicine.
Dr. McAleer currently resides in the Lehigh Valley with her husband. In her free time she enjoys baking, reading, knitting, and wreath making. “
